| Chambliss Law Office, c. 1897 |
|
|
The house known as the Chambliss Law Office was constructed c. 1897 as a residential dwelling by Robert V.
Utterback, at a time when the community was still recovering from the Civil War. Washington Star reporter,
"The Rambler," described the property in 1921 as a yellow house surrounded by a clean clipped lawn and beds of
bright flowers. |
|
The two-story Colonial-Revival style dwelling has an L-plan layout that is three bays wide on the primary fascade.
A pedimented porch, extending from the front door with transom, is supported by Doric columns. Gable-end cornice
returns, interior-end chimneys, and a low stone foundation are present. The siding was recently replaced.
